I dont know. Maybe we are evil for allowing half the planet to also have an opinion but it doesnt feel like evil. Feels like justice.

Perhaps its just so simple that the bible has been modified many times by men. That would explain a lot. But otherwise, I just dont see why women would not be allowed to use their brain and their abilities. If god didnt want that, why create them equal to men in abilities?

    Its hard to understand.

I think its almost a crime that browsers havent evolved to make users generate unique, secure passwords by default. Its just another huge sign that these browser companies dont care about security or privacy, despite their marketing departement rabbling those words.

I dont think there has been any evolution at all in this area. Browsers can save passwords but they dont help the user generate secure, unique ones, and dont encourage users to have separate accounts. Instead the web is trying to make users use something like Google or Facebook logins, so they are completely dependent on those tech companies.

  • Without Linus, linux will quickly become a train wreck of design by commitee… We should enjoy this time now with Linux being awesome. Its not going to last that much longer. Linus is gonna get old, and tech companies are gonna make sure their platforms are as locked in as possible, even preventing platforms like Linux from accessing their services. Maybe in 10 years or so.

So lets just appreciate what we have now. Its peak Linux right now.

  • What if it doesnt pop and what we are seeing is the foundation for the dystopian society? Data centers being built will be used to monitor everyone in real time, connected to Ai of course so humans are not needed to watch it.

I think this is exactly what is happening. There is a huge financial incentive to build that world where humans no longer are needed. Thats why I think this is not a bubble, it just looks like it.

In the future, they will ask, how come people didnt stop the building of data centers for all of that dystopian stuff. Well, this is why. Its being sold as an improvement for human productivity, when its really about automation and removing the need for many humans to be part of the loop at all.

  • It has tons of buses and trains, but without a vehicle, I cant carry any stuff. I cant shop for a full week with 4 big bags of food and then carry that on the train or the bus.

I cant buy 10 liters of paint and carry it on the bus or train and walk home with it. In theory i could, but its a horrible experience.

I think living without a car works if you are living in a apartment in the city and you shop at the same nearby food shop every day. But you have no options.

Even buying something at Ikea would require a lot of planning. To get there with some bus, to pay for transport home, to be home when they come etc etc.

These are just examples but they add up. Life with a car is freedom.

  • Yeah because it lets me take care of things for the household. Go shop for food, get stuff for renovating house, go to work and home on my own…

I used to just take the bus everywhere but I didnt get anything done. I bought food in the same small overpriced food shop near my apartment, I didnt renovate anything since it was hard to get all the materials home, and I was crowding with others every day at public transport, often waiting for late buses or freezing.

The car has been a massive life upgrade. If you are reading this as someone who lives in an apartment and are happy with that kind of life, thats great. For me it would be a nightmare.

  • This is one of the huge advantages of older age. Early in life, we are forced to adapt to other people. Parents, teachers, friends…

As we get older, we know exactly what kind of people we actually want to have as friends, and the rest we can let go easily.

Some people actually leave their wifes/husbands when the kids move out, because they want their freedom to be the kind of person they were before. Life starts to feel like its not that long left, and they want to live the rest exactly how they want to.
