24·17 days agoA lot of pubs in the UK do serve food, and often they have provisions for families including changing tables and high chairs.

United Kingdom@feddit.uk•Hackney pub’s child‑free rule sparks debate onlineEnglish
4·17 days agoI think it depends on the context, if it was the only pub in a small village, you’d want it to be inclusive as possible. However, in a big city like London, there are lots of pubs, and if one isn’t child-friendly, there’s plenty of others that are, and vice versa.

United Kingdom@feddit.uk•Major UK supermarket to stop selling mackerel in coming weeksEnglish
16·2 months agoI used to refer to the Marine Conservation Society’s Good Fish Guide on the odd occasion I’d eat fish. Back then I remember mackerel being sustainable, sadly that is no longer the case as the guide for mackerel now says:
Most mackerel sold in the UK needs improvement because of long-term overfishing. Avoid mackerel caught using gillnets.

1·2 months agoYou could make the community local only, but that would very much limit its reach.

2·2 months agoThough how do you ban a user who’s only downvoted in a community? From what I can tell, the ban option only appears on posts and comments.

3·3 months agoUnless there is a future need for all this milk, or an argument for food security, couldn’t the government incentivize the farmers to grow different crops, or even rewild their farmlands?

4·3 months agoIn terms of strategies, I’d recommend Unmasked by Ellie Middleton.
I’m currently half way through reading Scattered Minds by Gabor Maté, which is very much worthy of all the praise it receives.

2·5 months agoThat was my original point. The artist or promoter is able to set the face value price, but Ticketmaster adds fees on top.

United Kingdom@feddit.uk•Reselling tickets for profit to be outlawed in UK government crackdownEnglish
5·5 months agoThe article states that the government will regulate the fees that can be charged on top of the face value.
Under the plan, which could form part of next year’s King’s speech, anyone selling a ticket will not be allowed to charge more than they paid for it. Resale platforms will be allowed to charge fees on top of that price. These extras will also be limited, to ensure that they can’t be inflated artificially to offset profits forfeited owing to the legislation. The scale of the ceiling on service fees is yet to be determined.
