    India pale ale. The high hop content stopped it from going off on the boat to India. It’s one good thing British colonialism did for the world.

      To add, IPA is a style, it does not indicate location of origin of the beer. These are not of the style Pale Ale that were brewed in India.

        They were brewed in Britain for the voyage to India. So posh (port out starboard home) people could get shit faced on the journey. Other beers would go funky after being stored for weeks at room temp in the tropics.
