It’s worth noting that Harris was never put in charge of the border or appointed “border czar”; she was tasked to lead a diplomatic effort to reduce immigration from the “Northern Triangle” of Central America…and it worked.Immigration from those countries has dropped by more than 2/3s since she took on that task.

Here you go. Press pool for the meeting that started this whole thing. About as primary of a source as is possible. It’s very clear she’s being asked to help address root causes of immigration, specifically political unrest and economic instability in central America. She quickly corrects the interviewer when they ask if this is about the border. If anyone was the border czar (a term the admin itself did not use for anyone to the best of my knowledge), it would be the secretary of homeland security.

And of course, Trump convinced Republicans to kill their immigration wish list law because he was so upset that he wouldn’t get credit for it.

Q: Madam Vice President, will you visit the Southern Border? Do you have a trip planned or will you plan a trip in the future if the situation with migration doesn’t resolve itself?

A: So, as I mentioned to the experts, the President has asked Sec. Mayorkas to address what is going on at the border, and he has been working very hard and is showing some progress because of his hard work. I have been asked to lead the issue of addressing the root causes, similar to what the then-vice president did many years ago, but I will tell you that these are not issues that are going to be addressed overnight in terms of the root causes issue. A large part of our focus is diplomatic in terms of what we can do in a way that is about working with these countries.

So when Republicans are like, omg she was the border czar and didn’t even visit the border. Uh no, she was helping with diplomacy and economic development in central America so was of course visiting those countries. The whole republican border czar thing is misinformation.

You don’t need to be a jerk about it, I did read what you wrote. But you don’t have a source or any clarifying information here and Google is worthless so I’m having trouble verifying.

My gut says you’re probably right but I don’t just trust random comments online just because they jive with my worldview or are otherwise convenient.

I appreciate your original question and tact through these follow ups. I’m also having trouble finding primary sources in my quick search.

I’m an ass for pointing you to the answer to your question. I see. Do us both a favor, don’t respond to me anymore.

You didn’t point to anything. You made a claim then got rude when someone who is trying to agree with you sought clarifying information. I was polite and patient until you got terse and shitty for no reason.

You can feel free to not respond. Or respond. I don’t care. I’ll do what I please, thanks for the disingenuous/rude suggestion. Block away if that makes you happy.

I’m really hoping this is a sign they’re gonna take control of the narrative on the border. Trump voters should know that border crossings are down, and that Republicans nuked the border security bill at his request, explicitly so that he could run on a border narrative.

I’m just nervous now that Kennedy is on the ballot in Arizona and I believe another swing state. I’m not entirely convinced that only Trump will be affected and with every goddamn election being like .00000006% difference between the two anything could make us lose…
