Zoom in: Newly confirmed Secretary of Education Linda McMahon said in a statement that since Hamas’ Oct. 7 attack on Israel, “Jewish students have faced relentless violence, intimidation, and anti-Semitic harassment on their campuses— only to be ignored by those who are supposed to protect them.”
She said universities must comply with all federal anti-discrimination laws if they are going to receive federal funding. “For too long, Columbia has abandoned that obligation to Jewish students studying on its campus,” McMahon added. “Today, we demonstrate to Columbia and other universities that we will not tolerate their appalling inaction any longer.”

People thinking that American politics needs to dominate every single place of conversation is mildly infuriating at least.
All dandelion like discussion topics (strong, competitive and parasitic to other topics, viral) need to be isolated to their own deticated communities and spaces. Dandelions are great in salad from what I hear and are lovely flowers, but I dont want them in my rose garden or it will choke out and kill my roses. Politics is important and admittedly kinda fun, but I dont want it here.
I do think it is mildly infuriating.
I find the shitshow that is the US mostly amusing.

It is not though. Columbia is probably the most genocidal pro Israel university of them all. Them getting the funding pulled is hillarious.
