Sometimes yea! Tying a hold-down strap to your wheel is a lesson they clearly need to learn the hard way, though, I mean goddamn. Look, I’m still a largely helpful person and boy am I a yapper, which helps, but some people need more than a bone. I can’t speak for this guy but some people have also been told before several times and clearly need a stronger lesson(my roommate moving in with their partner in August, for example, who’s a fuckin’ mess in several ways(but we are still friends)).

I have learned in my life that the more I just tell people the answer the fewer opportunities they have for learning. Much of my knowledge comes from personal exploration and knowing when I need to ask for help and I’ve decided that I need to allow others to do that, too, and if I don’t I’m just taking that from them.
In this case they’d probably get a “you sure about that?” and that’d be the end of it. They’re only going to hurt themselves, it’s not like they’ll get anywhere far, so this is a great chance for some learning.
It was always happening in the States, just less so or people didn’t care whether or not the history of slaves or whatever was real or not.
Soup@lemmy.worldto Fuck Cars@lemmy.world•The President of the United States posted this message on his account. He wants the Vietnamese to buy SUVsEnglish1·20 hours agoWith their weight and the lower profile tires that come stock, and how they’re kinda just like regular cars but bigger in every way except where it counts, they really aren’t. Their single big advantage is the ground clearance but many actually have bodies that come surprisingly low. One the OG Ford Rangers would be great, but only if it had 4x4 because all those RWD only trucks, especially when they have nothing in the back, are essentially worthless due to the total lack of traction. They’re also super long, which makes maneuvering difficult in tight spaces so obstacles you could have gone around are now barriers you have go through. Besides, my BRZ doesn’t explode when it hits a pothole or touches a gravel road and in fact does quite well, even when it was lowered by an inch. Hilariously, unlike many vehicles the BRZ comes with a metal skid plate by default to protect the oil pan from the road.
Trucks and SUVs are terrible. Body on Frame vans and smaller unibody work vans are incredible but most people are too stupid and/or insecure and vain to buy them instead.
Soup@lemmy.worldto politics @lemmy.world•Trump says CNN may be prosecuted for reporting on app that alerts ICE sightings11·1 day agoHe literally followed it up with what was essentially “ok fine, but do something”. You’re so hooked onto this sugar thing and have completely missed the entire point.
Brother, you’re dumb as a doornail.
Soup@lemmy.worldto politics @lemmy.world•Trump says CNN may be prosecuted for reporting on app that alerts ICE sightings1·1 day agoYou asked, buddy, and I’m sorry your gotcha fell on its stupid face, I guess?
The USA was fucking crawling forward and it was complaining the entire time. It is a country constantly falling behind in so many quality of life metrics, and in a constant state of barely hanging onto what few rights people had to earn with their lives. I need you to understand that the pace at which it moves is unacceptable and to be even remotely proud of it just shows your ignorance.
The Democrats are probably going to try to run Gavin fucking Newsom instead of AOC because they don’t seem to even want to win and because they don’t want to have someone in power who will push so hard for doing the right thing. Who knows, maybe you idiots will actually rally behind her during the primary, if you even get one of those, and the country can finally start its slow game of catch-up with the rest of the developed world, but I’m not holding my breath.
Good luck.
Soup@lemmy.worldto politics @lemmy.world•Trump says CNN may be prosecuted for reporting on app that alerts ICE sightings1·2 days agoI’m from Canada, we were one of the first to legalize it, if I recall correctly.
I need you to understand that this pathetic deflection tactic does not fool any but the most profoundly stupid. The US has an insane amount of resources to do so much good for its people and spends way too much of said resources attacking other countries and beating down its minorities and poor people. You’re failing an open book test where the professor is begging you pick the right answer and you’re still dragging your heels and screaming the whole time.
The US is a terrible place, not only for how bad it is but, for me especially, for how it could be so wonderful and actively chooses to be terrible. And then it goes around exporting that bullshit while acting like they had nothing to do with it to really round it all out. Many places are bad but the US takes it to a whole new, greasy place.
Soup@lemmy.worldto politics @lemmy.world•Trump says CNN may be prosecuted for reporting on app that alerts ICE sightings1·2 days agoDamn, the bar really is on the floor, huh? Ya’ll’re gunna have to do a lot better than “gay people are barely allowed to marry in places where they have less of s chance of being beaten or killed for being out” and “we had abortion rights once but those were blown away and now the current admin that’s only just getting started is making sure things only get worse”.
I know them there readin’ skills ain’t top-notch in ‘Merica but maybe you would all benefit from looking to the rest of the world and understanding that the USA is pretty fucking dogshit in comparison to not only a long list of betters but even compared to a few of the countries that it considers to be backwater.
The USA sucks, big time. Horrid place full of horrid people doing horrid things under a horrid system they keep desperately trying to pretend is the only option despite all the evidence even from within their own recent past. Do better.

I’m not sure I can express it properly but I’m rootin’ for ya.
Also there’s a ceetain point where the movie thing hits harder. Rent is really expensive and people are needing to get more roommates or live with their parents to afford the super high prices but a movie is once a month is cheap and shouldn’t have a big enough impact to hurt to bad, yet it does. It’s absolutely absurd that we live in a world where people need to count their pennies.
Also, good luck, I hope “homeless” doesn’t mean “on the street”. Keep safe my guy.
This guy checks all the boxes for the anti-christ, follows the Nazi playbook so close you can just tell he’s a fan, and now is just being the bad guys from 1984.
It’s incredible how much Republicans SCREAM that they are the evil ones, at the tops of their lungs, but their base refuses to listen.
Soup@lemmy.worldto Enough Musk Spam@lemmy.world•Elon Musk's Unpopularity Hits All-Time High After Leaving Trump Admin1·8 days agoYou don’t want that world. Look at who commits murder even when it’s more difficult, and look at why they do it. The far-right love to respond to people trying to help them with death threats, guns, and bombs, the centre doesn’t do anything about it even if they’re also in the victim pool, and the left would like to see these executives and corrupt politicians arrested and their ill-gotten assets seized but we generally pump the brakes on the murder.
These days, though, people are being pushed outside their “comfort zone”.
It’s not about who’s buying the end product, it’s about who is supporting the people and politicians who use that flawed reasoning to get support.
“The carbon tax will mean that your food price will double” is a massive lie, and should be a major factor is disqualifying whoever says it as being someone to take seriously. Unfortunately, people hear that gas will have an added $0.114/L and believe that that will mean immediate financial ruin for everyone across the country. Politicians that support controlling the rampant greed of companies aren’t getting support while the thieves are and that’s fucked up.
But also remember that the cost of energy is nowhere near 100% of the cost of making pretty much anything.
If you doubled the cost of something because the price of a fraction of it doubled you’re absolutely a thief. That’s what these companies are doing; bad math to steal from stupid people*.
*Anyone can be a stupid person, including those with advanced engineering degrees. Hell, it’s almost more likely for them.
I know a lot of stupid people who choose to be good as well. Stupid people who know to trust scientists and who want to share and all that good stuff. Then there are the violent, monkey-brained goons whose only method of communicating is unfiltered violence. The latter are pathetic in all senses and no amount of being stupid will be an adequate enough excuse for their actions.
