  • I would absolutely advise talking to a doctor about this. That very much sounds like an allergy, and although there are many meds that may help, none of us online can safely advise them for you, you really do need a prescriber with access to your medical records/bloodwork for that.

As far as first steps go, regularly taking OTC allergy meds and developing a daily cleaning schedule + filters for the bedroom + keeping your dog off the bed at the very least, and ideally out of the bedroom entirely, will help. Also frequently bathing your dog can help keep the dander down.

Its black humor, not cheering the deaths of people. It’s pointing out that we’ve been warning the world for years that exactly this will happen, and now it has in a way that resembles a system correcting itself. There’s no joy in hilighting this, just ironic tragedy and the laughter of the gallows.

They killed people they felt threatened by, and that they couldnt use. Teachers, doctors, authors, scientists, philosophers, social critics, journalists, midwives, artists, performers. Those are the people that died at the hands of Mao and Kim, not the capitalists whose wealth they both needed. Mao was all about investment into collectivist systems, one of the biggest factors driving The Great Leap Forward was the need to quickly develop new sources of domestic investment. And the DPRK is just a corrupt Juche system, they love foreign investors (and holding them for ransom!). Just because a few people you don’t like incidentally died in the purges too doesn’t mean they had “the right idea”, and it’s sickening to see you spout that revisionist BS here.

  • Pretty much this. How many artists did you follow on, say, reddit? There were so few on there, and those that were there mainly linked to alternate social media and just used reddit to get engagement. Lemmy is probably the most approachable activitypub interface (we all remember trying to find the damn content on mastadon/bluesky…) and it’s just not big or established enough to be worth trusting. Hopefully that will start changing soon as more people hop over from the myriad other sites, we seem to be past the critical point for new users, but it just takes time.

You’ve a winning argument, to be sure! Not sure where I quantified how much I think hollywood influences culture but okay.

FWIW, obviously popular media both is influential and responds to culture. “Hollywood” really shouldn’t be treated as a singular entity if we’re trying for a semblance of legitimacy. This is really quickly going to fall into a discussion of the role of the audience and how that’s changed in the digital era (vs. when Aristotle first brought it up…), and neither of us care enough to suffer through thay. Suffice to say it’s not cut and dry, and beyond that I dont know any better than you do what specific impact they have (and neither do they).

This is a real Im14AndThisIsDeep meme. More people have access to platforms where they can share their creative works than at any other point in human history, if you aren’t seeing it then you’re not really trying to find it. That point would be fair, too; its hard to find original content (even more so with the rise of AI-driven SEO). It’s not the trend in hollywood, but hollywood doesn’t define culture NEARLY as much as they’d like to think they do…)
