I’m a genX dude, living in a genZ world. I love everyone. Be gay, be trans, be whatever. I love everyone until an individual proves they don’t deserve it. I don’t hate anyone based on groups, I hate people who are assholes.

politics @lemmy.world•Trump’s border czar threatens to flood New York with ICE agents despite resistanceEnglish
2·3 days agoSo, are you suing there’s an acceptable rate of constitutional violations that can be tolerated?
My fellow human, you literally quoted the part of my comment where I said it’s unacceptable. Remember where I said:
Is the shit they’re doing still unacceptable? Yes.
How could you possibly infer that I’m saying it’s acceptable from that?
I clearly stated that it’s not acceptable. You’re not gonna get a “gotcha” moment here by purposefully misrepresenting my point.
What I’m saying is that 10 victims is better than 100 victims. 0 victims would be the best, obviously. But an improvement is still an improvement, and progress is still progress.

162·4 days agoIt got my location wrong. It got my GPU wrong. It said I never left the tab, even though I left it to start this comment. It said I moved my cursor 111 times in 74 seconds, which is absolutely false.
That site is just pointless. Pretty much the only things it got right were my time zone and my browser.

1·4 days agoA slower pace is still an improvement. Is it perfect? No. Is the shit they’re doing still unacceptable? Yes.
If your doctor told you that you had a disease that was gonna kill you in a month, and then after more testing they said you actually have a year left, that would be relatively good news, yes?
Bad things slowing down is a good thing.
CHS is 100% a real thing, my wife has it. If she smokes more than a bowl a week, she will scromit. She developed CHS about 18 months after she first started smoking with me. I’ve been smoking for about 40 years, and I’ve never developed CHS. We’re not sure exactly why some people get it and some people don’t, but it is a real phenomenon that can happen to some cannabis users.
I’m pro-weed, pro-legalization, and generally in favor of personal freedom. But pot is not for everyone. It makes my wife incredibly sick. My (adult) daughter gets panic attacks from smoking pot, so she abstains.
It’s entirely possible. I could vomit 3 feet away from you, and all you’d hear is the puke hitting the floor. I developed the ability to stealth vomit when I was a secret alcoholic and didn’t want people to get suspicious.
Speaking from personal experience, I live in PA and I have a medical card (which is incredibly easy to get FWIW). I only buy lab tested dispensary bud. My wife developed CHS smoking with me. I did not develop CHS, and we were smoking the exact same product.
It’s probably different for different people. I smoke a fat bowl every morning, and sometimes a second one at night, and I’m fine. I’ve been smoking for about 40 years. My wife was smoking a gram or two a day for roughly 18 months, and she developed CHS. She took a month long t-break, and the symptoms went away. Now, if she smokes more than once a week, they come back, so she only smokes with me on Monday nights.

2·4 days agoIf there’s one thing the majority of Americans agree on it’s that corporations are ruining lives
I’m not a Trumper, but I live in deep Red MAGA country. People celebrated when Amazon opened a warehouse here, praising them for bringing jobs to the area. They see Amazon as improving their lives, since they can get a bigger paycheck now and can afford to live. When you’re working at McDonald’s for $8.25/hr, and Amazon shows up offering $21/hr, that is a huge improvement. Telling these folks that Amazon is ruining their lives will get you laughed out of town.
The MAGA folks don’t live in the same world you do. As soon as you accept that, you will understand them better.

2·4 days agoGenX here, I have a streaming service (Paramount+) for exactly one reason: It comes for free with my Walmart+ account, which I use frequently. Every 6 months I switch between that and Peacock, since both are free and I can change my choice twice a year. So I watch what I want on Paramount+ for 6 months, then switch to Peacock for 6 months, rinse and repeat.
As far as a lifetime subscription to Nebula, I’ve watched way too many sites fail/die to consider a lifetime subscription to anything on the internet. They could shut the site down tomorrow, and now I’m out $500 ($300 if I happen to get a discount from a creator code).

9·4 days agoThey were never, and still aren’t “gone”. But they have scaled back operations significantly. At their peak, there were 4000 ICE agents in Minneapolis. The most current number I can find is “between 400 and 1000”. So that’s a pretty big change. They’ve reduced their presence by at least 75%, and best case scenario, they’ve reduced it by 90%.

No, it clearly states in the article that this data was from a poll conducted by AtlasIntel, a Brazilian marketing company. They also point out that not a single other poll has gotten these results. This post is very misleading. But people see a headline they like, and they upvote/comment without bothering to read the articles.
