Honour killings are on one hand part of a larger patriarchal culture that is prevalent in most of the world, on the other hand, they are much more common in groups practicing fundamental variations of Islam. Pointing that out isn’t Islamophobia. Blaming each and every Muslim for this would be. If we persecute each murder committed by policemen, but do nothing against the larger pattern, then we tolerate police violence.

If we would not persecute them or give them lighter sentences, we do not only tolerate them, we endorse them.

Well to address the second paragraph: Most polls show a plurality to want to maintain the Status Quo: de facto Independence, dealing with both the Mainland and the US. I would not go so far as to call that “ready for unification”.

No doubt that the elites don’t want reunification, but it seems like the population doesn’t want it either. I couldn’t find any poll that had more than 11-15% of people in favor of reunification.
