That’s a funny coincidence.

It’s been a few years so it may not be the same nowadays, but when I used Manjaro for a bit it was always just a matter of time before an update broke everything. Probably had something to do with chaotic-aur. It was great otherwise, though. I wouldn’t let it get to you.
Now I use a Fedora Atomic distro, which is like… the opposite of risky upgrades.

No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•Is there a culture/country that doesn't have sarcasm in its language?English
3·20 days agoSarcasm can be used to be inclusive to someone (I’m saying this thing we both know to be untrue, imagine thinking otherwise! We understand one another.) or derisive (I’m saying this stupid thing you’d probably think is true because you’re an idiot and I want to make sure you know it.) I know friendly people who do the former a lot and nasty people who exclusively do the latter. I wonder if the former is more difficult to achieve among a foreign culture with a second language.

No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•Is there a culture/country that doesn't have sarcasm in its language?English
7·20 days agoEven in English, sarcasm can be delivered very dryly in a way that would be undetectable without knowing context. It doesn’t need to be spoken with exaggerated tones. I do it too much.

41·20 days agoRequiring less RAM is good, but conceptually, it’s Linux that is “wasting” the RAM by never using it. It’s there, and it’s reusable, fill it up! Now, does Windows make good use of it? No idea. Wouldn’t bet on it, but I could be surprised.

Technology@lemmy.world•Discord will require a face scan or ID for full access next monthEnglish
1·24 days agoI’d like for this to be a mass exodus event, but since it only stops you from accessing age-restricted servers you’re not really going to have to verify your ID if you’re just using voice chat with your friends or whatever. (At least, from what i can tell.) So it might cause an exodus of the NSFW segment of users, at least, and I’ll take that. That alone might help spur development to reduce the gap between discord and newer competitors.

I don’t think OP means it, to be fair. They are being jocular.
