11·9 hours agoSure, but let’s not play ignorant to the role WW1 played in setting the stage for fascism to arise. Things are always more complicated then just “liberalism leads to fascism”, especially since theory only exists abstractly as opposed to the smorgasbord of circumstances in reality. I’m in no way denying the existence of that pipeline though.

45·12 hours agoOkay so you’re just being disingenuous then. You think poor material conditions (particularly from wide-scale conflict independent of liberalism) have absolutely no influence on the path a country takes?

65·12 hours agoThis is just silly and way too presumptuous. Fascism doesn’t arise from liberalism, it arises from desperation. Both Italy and Germany were in less than desirable positions after WW1, Italy being fractured and dissatisfied with the hand it was dealt after being on the winning side, and Germany being crippled with debt and teeming with government incompetency. Both Mussolini and Hitler were opportunists who would have in no way got as far as they did had either country been in a more stable condition with no need to find a solution. Liberalism really had nothing to do with it, like, at all.

4·22 hours agoIt’s crazy how once these companies get big enough, they become a cancer that just slowly self-destructs. Everything that’s going wrong in their business can be blamed solely on them. Just all around gross incompetence in the most absurd, blatant way possible. I really hope that, in the near future, we see the main opinion of Microsoft finally coming around to understanding this redundant company’s pig-brained, slop-obsessed stupidity.
If it’s ageism then there shouldn’t be any minimum age for voting either, no? By your logic, since there’s no set age for lacking the mental cognition to vote, under-18s should be allowed to as well.

5·1 day agoThat’s not greed though. I’ll say it again but more explicitly: Greed is not an illness, it’s a kind of behaviour that anyone can exhibit through their actions. It doesn’t matter whether they’re an average person or someone with an anti-social disorder, that applies regardless.

173·1 day agoI think one of the fundamental problems is that we treat mental disorders like they’re some sort of specialized set of adjectives. Being unfocused is “ADHD”. Being shy or fixated on a specific topic is “autistic”. Being emotionally charged in a stressful situation is “bipolar”. We do that and it undermines what it’s actually like to have and deal with those conditions every day, and makes people who actually have them seem “crazy” or “creepy” to people who are just ignorant. It really sets the general consensus back hard.

4·1 day agoI honestly think the greed will (and should now) be considered a mental illness.
At that point it would just be excusing bad behaviour, would it not? I wouldn’t say putting it on the same level as mental illness is fair, either. People with mental illnesses don’t want to be mentally ill. On the other hand, greed is a trait that directly shows itself in a person’s decisions. You can choose to be greedy, you can’t choose to have, say, arachnophobia.

16·1 day agoWatch Dogs, the first one specifically. I know Ubisoft has had a pretty bad track record, especially in recent years, but I’ve played through that game a bunch of times and always had a good time with it. Even in its worse parts its still dumb fun.
The story honestly aged really well too for better or worse with how tech companies and governments are mingling now.

1·1 day agoMaybe not burn your house down, but for a while it would have filled your house with piles and piles of useless garbage.
That’s to say it took up an insane amount of storage to have installed until they fixed it a while back. It was apparently because they had some bizarre idea of duplicating files over and over to make load times faster for hard drive users. It went down from something crazy like ~150 gb to around 30 lol.
