I work in security, and I’ve seen a lot more EDR killers lately. Every incident I’ve seen regarding ransomware or potential ransomware has used EDR killers while compromising DCs, backup servers, file servers, and the odd workstation used for persistence.

I make slow cooked chicken burritos and freeze them. Takes about 1 hour of prep, and about 6 hours to cook so it isn’t easy, but I only gotta do this occasionally. If I do this in conjunction with meal prep it takes a lot longer to prep, but then I can have a work week of food, and have like 8 burritos for when I’m too lazy to cook.

To me, the only reason why you would want to mandate voting is if you want to increase civic participation (or, more cynically, you are a political party who has done some research and you have realized that such a law benefits you more than the opponent). I think a law like this would not make people engage, but make it look like they are engaged. Because of this, I think it is pointless, and if it is punitive, then it fails to accomplish what it sets out to do and just punishes people for no reason.

I don’t like superficial policy. I want policy to actually attempt to fix problems rather than try and mask them. This doesn’t fix issues like people being unable to vote due to work, or people feeling abandoned by politicians and not wanting to give them a modicum of support, or people just feeling crushed by the system itself and seeing no point in it all. This doesn’t even attempt to look at root causes.

This doesn’t address the inability for many people to run for office, be it because they can’t afford the money needed to get started, or because they can’t afford to live off the politician paycheck for one reason or another, much less afford to take time off work to campaign.

I also think that not voting is fundamentally a vote. Sometimes the two choices are just so abhorrent that you can’t bring yourself to vote, and is that not a valid political stance? Is it not an intentional political choice? Isn’t that what voting is in the first place?

Sure, you could have a system that lets you vote “nobody”, but if that’s allowed, then why are you mandating voting anyways? This subverts the point of that law, and it means the effective use of the law is to punish people who vote for no one in the wrong way. What is the benefit of a blank ballot or a “nobody” ballot over no ballot?

I love my car for the fact it doesn’t do anything crazy. Buttons and switches for everything, bluetooth for music, and a minimalist infotainment system that may as well only be there for the phone pairing process.

I might be in the minority, but I hate Apple CarPlay/Android Auto. I don’t want anything fancy, just music. I don’t want all the bells and whistles of my phone, just music.

Even though I am more on the militant side with LGBTQ+ rights, I’m still pretty worried about what’s to come. I don’t expect the government to help me, and I’m building connections of solidarity and support that will keep myself and others safe, regardless of what happens.

But I’m scared of what’s going to happen to trans kids cursed to grow up in a state like Florida or Oklahoma. Left to rot by a party that’s abandoned them once they’ve voted. I’m worried that queers aren’t realizing that we can’t expect reciprocal support from the Dems, especially at the federal level, and they’re not using their energy to build support networks instead of spending time and energy campaigning for them.

I’m happy to be in the “i told you so” crowd, and I’m surprised that I predicted it would be kamala just being crowned president elect after biden drops after the speech.

What I never imagined was how much support Kamala would get. I thought a change like this, while it would have been better, would be controversial. While I’m upset with some things, like the wishy-washy “hope” platform and the promised things having a poor track record of being achieved by the dems, I’d much rather prefer this to biden, even with her terrible views on genocide and LGBTQ rights (especially trans rights)

Granted, this hope narrative is working wonders for a lot of democrats, and I even felt a little bit of it in my jaded, cold, black anarchist heart. Just the change of candidate alone feels similar to the times when I’d go home after spending a month eating the horrid cafeteria food in college to have a home-cooked meal. But i’m worried that after that brief weekend of good shit, it will go back to the same old bullshit once she’s in office

Why should we have any trust in any part of the government? It’s not like they care about the bare minimum, like giving us a future that isn’t full of climate catastrophe
