Primaries are still subject to spoiler effects and such.
In my very blue state this year where the top two in the primary go on to the general, there was a local position which had a whole bunch of well qualified Democrats vs just a couple of Republicans. (Incumbent not running)
The dem vote was split enough that we very nearly had just the two Republicans in the general. Like less than 60 votes away.
Like so many people answering this, my height.
In my case it contrasts with my wife’s height - I’m half a yard (nearly half a meter) taller than she is.
Genshin has a 7 elements system that partially does what you describe: Wood (or anything made of or affected by dendro) burns when exposed to fire (pyro), fire melts ice (cryo) and vaporizes water (hydro), water conducts (well, causes a damage reaction with) electricity (electro), etc. The outliers are stone (geo) which makes forcefield shields with some of the other elements, and air (anemo) which swirls up and spreads and reacts together some of the other elements.
It’s desktop only, and from 2008.
Initially I didn’t see it on the package in the image, so before reading the article it looked like a prank product, just an empty case to hold your eSIM.
“Come and play with us…”
I have the opposite issue with background apps - I have 12 GB of RAM (16 on the tablet) and it still closes utilities sometimes and forces me to relaunch them (in some cases going back into settings and re-enabling accessibility services for example. That should never happen, in case it’s Really for accessibility)
That one actually has a simple math reason: the slow lane is slow generally because it has more cars, so more people are actually in it than are in a faster lane. (Ignoring traffic waves and taking the average speeds)
This is going to be a bit long, and I’m posting it late, but anyway…
I met a couple former girlfriends through school and such, but not a lot happened until I started online dating. One of the first ones I met that way brought one of her friends along when we met in person because of course meeting a stranger from the internet was scary business (not that this has changed necessarily, but it was new at the time). Anyway after a date or two, things didn’t work out with the first girl. I forgot her real name, but I’m making up names anyway so I’ll call her Monica since mono=1.
But I later met the friend randomly at work! Small world. I’ll call her Jenny. Her real first name is quite rare and would identify her rather precisely. So we started dating, and things seemed to be going ok, but slow. However after my dad died the relationship kinda fell off.
I went back to the dating site and eventually met another girl, I’ll call her Amy. We scheduled a date for the local State Fair, and when the time arrived she was clearly really upset about something but still wanted to go on the date. So we did, and she was still visibly upset, but I didn’t pry.
Later that day she eventually told the story:
Amy had a few months prior moved to my state from Georgia, and did so because of a boy she had dated before who moved here, but had friendzoned her. And that boy had started seeing someone, and Amy didn’t like that, but it hadn’t really hit her until that day, when the boy and the girl he was seeing had told each other that they loved each other. But Amy liked me and was trying to move on, so I did what I could to emotionally comfort her (we weren’t physical).
Later on (forgot if same night) I invited her back to my place. Now of course I’m a geek and date geeky women, so when I say something stupid like “Want to see the cosplay pics I took at [the local anime convention]?” her response was “Sure”.
As I was going through the pictures, she knew many of the characters and even already knew some of the people playing them. At one point as I was about to move on to the next picture her tone changed - she said “Oh, I know her”. I raised an eyebrow and asked “Oh really?”, and she said “Yes, that’s the girl that [boy] is seeing”.
After some effort to pick my jaw up from the ground, I managed to explain:
“She’s my ex.”
Amy asked, “Jenny‽” (Remember, unusual real name, which I hadn’t told her)
“Yes.” I said.
So while I was dating a girl that recently moved in, her ex was dating my ex. Going over the timelines later, Jenny was probably cheating on me before we broke up.
And no kids, Amy’s not your mother my wife. This was many seasons years before.
Only if you don’t trust what’s using it, but both it and the app I linked are open source, so I personally consider the risk to be minimal.
It also has a permission system, you have to allow each app that uses it. (Just like root managers such as Magisk)
Better Internet Tiles
F-Droid
Play store
Requires either Shizuku or root, but works well enough that I forgot it wasn’t the default until you reminded me.
I don’t follow music much, but I have a guess anyway. It seems like the number and diversity of genres just absolutely exploded since trading .mp3 files became a thing. And with digital stores and YouTube, distribution isn’t a hurdle anymore, publishers don’t have to pick and choose which albums to release, they can just do ‘all’ of them.
So there’s just no longer one single sound that can define a decade the way it used to be, now people hear hundreds of wildly different bands in a year instead of a few dozen that were hand picked by studios because they had trendy sounds.
Sounds like a clear failure to have a reasonable API. I’d think apps shouldn’t have to guess based on aspect ratio, they should be told in some way which layout to use.
I think that drive is long gone - this was over a decade ago. But if I find them I’ll update this.
I have a couple times.
My favorite was as a Katamari -
Was standing in a giant Hoberman sphere on a rolling cart. The structure was covered in a sheet and the sheet was covered in whatever junk I could find that would fit, but especially stuff from the game. Even had a life size Prince of All Cosmos trailing behind it
All these people posting inspirational stories and here I am with my first thought being “Finally saw the northern lights”. Got some decent pictures too.
I don’t know this particular player, but given other headlines I’ve seen about NFL types, it actually would not surprise me.
My parents both didn’t swear (at least not where I could hear them) so I simply never picked up the habit. I can swear if I make a conscious effort to do so, but generally only find reason to if I am quoting someone or something. And even that feels awkward to me.
As for expressing myself, I don’t believe I have much trouble in that regard. There are a ton of other words available and ways to arrange them. And if I truly need to express anguish, rage, etc. there is always yelling or screaming.
