It’s also better than v and much much better than 2042. It’s a pretty fun arcadey shooter, with a very non toxic player base

I think the current thing is quite likely an organic uprising. Things have been very very broken in Venezuela for a while now and the people there aren’t happy. Lots of people have been fleeing to Colombia for a while now and there are solid signs the election results were made up.
Yeah, I’m learning on an old mini, which is a great car to learn on because they made basically the same car for 40 years and it’s one of the most heavily produced cars of all time. I can buy every part for it for a reasonable price from one of 15 online retailers, about 5 of which are in Australia. However, if that wasn’t the case it would be quite a bad thing to learn on because you’d just spend all your time chasing parts.
Something like that, an old Toyota or a bug would be a good car to learn on
For YouTube stuff, d3sshooter is pretty good. He’s an older bloke that really knows his stuff and does detailed videos about how to do specific jobs on his cars (e.g. I followed his video when putting together the hubs for my mini). This is also a more expensive way to do it, but restoring an old car isn’t a bad way to go. You’ll learn a hell of a lot from it and they’re a bit simpler and more approachable than a newer car
Over the past 5 years the monthly road deaths here in aus have been going up, because of the prevalence of those massive cars
Nah, it’s mostly because all the tech reviewers trashed phones with plastic backs saying they felt cheap. If you look at any of those reviews they always talk about the premium feel.
It also changed from aluminium to glass backs mostly for wireless charging.
Plastic backs are better, but the tech reviewers did a lot of damage there. If they’d tried to influence people and explained why particular made sense instead of trashing it we may have more plastic phones.
If it’s just passing the fire over the nest it shouldn’t catch the wood on fire, but it could damage the paint. You don’t need the heat under the nest for long though, just long enough to burn the wings of the adult wasps
Get a newspaper, roll/scrunch up a bit, light it on fire and hold it beneath the nest. Then when they try to fly out their wings immediately singe and they drop to the ground. Then you can step on them with boots. I don’t know yellow jackets but that’s what I use in Australia for paper wasps (which are very aggressive).
Fining the shit out of them for their many many environmental breaches. Then when they’re bankrupt, re-nationalise them for cheap.
Yep, I was talking to my grandpa about what invention his parents thought was the most significant in their lifetime, and they had said the radio. They had lived through both world wars which had brought about many many inventions and that was the one they thought was most significant.
Up to that time news was incredibly slow and you couldn’t put what was going on on the other side of the country without a massive delay, let alone the world.
I mean, that seems like a really sceptical way to live. Often things get shilled because people are just happy with the service and think the business is doing things well. I am a kagi user and have brought it up to some others, including outside of lemmy, because I find it produces better search results than ddg etc. And it’s a definite step up from google in privacy
And brown poop fans
Huh, when I initially read “petty bourgeois” I thought you’d got the term wrong, but when I looked it up to check its a common anglicisation of “petite bourgeois”.
I find the latter more intuitive, as it’s “little bourgeois”, but both are right.
FYI there’s a survey you can fill in on the city of Sydney website for it
Sort of, but honestly the vapes have created a new generation of smokers and they should have banned them much sooner (unless you have a prescription and actual plan to use them to quit smoking). They were much easier for new people to get into and we went from smoking dying out to a sizeable number of young smokers.
The tobacco companies have done very well out of vaping
Yep, this is me too. I absolutely hate car centric city infrastructure… But am also restoring a classic mini. They’re a cool piece of engineering, just a shit way to transport lots of people
Not always, but the ones that aren’t about that are much smaller. E.g. I know a little community of christ church that is very simple and they rotate through the sermon and then have a friendly morning tea after. I’m not religious but it’s the only church I’ve been to where I kinda enjoyed it and I think it does just bring community and no harm. That being said, it’s a fringe denomination and isn’t really growing, because it’s not trying to force itself on others
You can do that at any doneness, a cast iron heated up for 10 mins will do a perfect sear in a bleu steak
They’ve chosen the green so there’s a much lower difference in contrast between the white and green when compared to the white and blue
That’s often the point of riding two abreast. If you are riding one at a time and on the edge of the lane then cars will often try and overtake you without leaving the lane, or at least a minimal amount. That leads to very dangerous close passes.
If you ride side by side or in the middle of the lane if alone, then generally the times you get passed by cars are much safer as if going fully into the other lane already they tend to give you enough space.
This would depend on the drivers in your area, but with the shitty Sydney drivers I learnt quickly to hold the lane unless it was a safe place for them to pass.
Also, because traffic is a thing it’s very rare that I don’t end up right behind whatever car passed me at the next traffic light, safer passes don’t really cost much time for the driver once traffic is accounted for
