Great idea, pattern design and execution ! (see I am also commenting twice)
Yes, there are tears and holes behind the stitches. I didn’t back it with anything, just whipped stitched the holes shut and added some extra stitches where I felt it might fray open. This is just a tote bag and usually they aren’t filled with much so I’m not too worried. And if it still breaks, well, it’s just a tote bag, my friend probably has replacements.
I know those braids ! I never has the patience to finish them but they do look cool.
I actually have a theory, but I am way too unknowledgeable about the topic to make any precise prediction.
Do you have any tote bag in need of repair ? :) If you look closely at mine, you can see that it’s not perfect, fishbone stitch is forgiving.
Also, satin stitch is deceptively hard, you need perfect tension all the way, I don’t like it.
I believe some painter said you can go to the paint store, and they have 100 different shades of greens, and not the one you want. So that tracks. And no, I don’t remember who that was or googled it properly.
It’s so cute ! The colours are really nice, it has a bit of a stardew valley vibe, I think. Don’t mention the lack of shadow, nobody notices.
Here is one of my favourite stitching ressource: https://www.needlenthread.com/videos
If you can do a half decent backstitch then you should try pekinese stitch (the outline of the plate).
The sponge cake is made of bayeux stitch which is really fast to make ! But relies on satin stitch which is deceptively difficult.
The knitted looking one is not quite a detached buttonhole filling, also sometimes detached blanket stitch.
Also used: seed stitch, satin stitch and hungarian braided chain stitch.
Not quite the cherry on top, but I agree, it was a bit empty without it. Let’s just say it’s an organic strawberry 😅
“this type” of embroidery runs mostly on vibes, there are no rules 😁 I am just worried it’s going to look too busy and take away from the cake, which should be the main focus. Maybe I will add something small, after I finish the cake.
That looks really clean, I love it !
Guys… you can’t post this meme and not tell which one it is !
Und das sieht noch halbwegs flach aus, die Bäume sind noch nicht so viel gewachsen.
It is tricky to get someone to recognise that they aren’t knowlegable enough. Even if you say it as gently as possible, some will still hear “you’re dumb” and no one likes that.
Also it’s a great tool to manipulate people : “I don’t need a scientist trying to explain me life from the depths of their lab !! I have commonsense !!”
I suspect there is a bit of a compounding effect with renting the scooters (more prevalent where I live), which makes users less respectful. Or a novelty effect with teenagers rushing past on their new toy. In my experience that wears out fast, though.
I guess even here some forget that you can put the scooters on bike lanes :)
They need the same infrastructure that bicycles and have gotten popular really fast. Since the infrastructure cannot accomodate them (no bike lane), the scotters become a nuisance for everyone.
With proper infrastructure though (cycling lanes and parking spots) they are fine. (Some might argue about users not following the rules, I’d say, sometimes you can’t respect the rules because the street is shit).
Also private companies monopolising public space, not cool. (that one I still stand by, and I hope they pay “rent” that goes towards maintaining the roads.)
There will be memes anyway, it’s better PR to own it and he may attempt to look in touch with the people.
Also has the added benefit of reassuring the public that it’s not so bad.
You need a bit of knowledge to get the most out of a complex music, which sounds intimidating.
Or you can just go to the concert blind and take in all the emotions, but people don’t know that’s a perfectly valid way to enjoy classical music. (It is! go to the concerts and don’t be afraid to have an opinion)
😁 you’re welcome. I can’t believe no one else did it before me, that was my first thought.
