sep@lemmy.worldto Technology@lemmy.world•Wikipedia Pauses AI-Generated Summaries After Editor BacklashEnglish91·20 days agoYou are correct that it would not instantly become unusable. But when all editors with integrity have ceased to contribute in frustration, wikipedia would eventually become stale, or very unreliable.
Also there is nothing stopping a person from using an llm to summarize an article for them. And the added benefit to that is that the energy and reasources used for that would be only used on the people that wanted to, not on evey single page view. I would assume the enegy consumption on that, would be significant.
Daily occurance having to restart teams to have the mic work again

I feel very much that the gap of what is normal have narrowed a LOT in my 50 years. Especialy in school. While there are laws that say everyone should have adapted teaching, it is just more and more classrom and less and less practical work. With a lot more burocracy for teachers. (Norway)

sep@lemmy.worldto Lemmy Shitpost@lemmy.world•How did a simple phone call become so problematic?92·5 months agoHow is spam calls such a problem? Have probably had 2 cold calls the last 10 years. In norway you register on a goverment do-not-cold-call list and basically I have not gotten sales calls since.
You just need a bigger house

Yes there is a facebook cookie on reddit, but it is sandboxed from the facebook cookie on cnn and the facebook cookie on youtube.
Also the noscript extension. It takes a while for you to curate your whitelists, but it is easy to do and nothings get to run without a active considerarion.
I also read now that the planets in the solarsystem will all be visible in a line February 28.
Sounds like a disaster movie… all the planets align in a year that is a perfect square.Edit: i wonder when that happened last or when that will happen again…
Yes! It’s square root is a whole number. I do not know if it will help anything. I am basically grasping at straws…

sep@lemmy.worldto Programmer Humor@programming.dev•Something something case-insensitive file something...136·6 months agoYou want all applications to explisitly support each individual filesystem? That sounds insane. It is absolutly fair to demand some common ground like posix compliance. And a windows user can like anyone else just mount their git repo area using any other filesystem.
sep@lemmy.worldto Programmer Humor@programming.dev•Something something case-insensitive file something...7·6 months agoAbsolutly. And they can just mount the git store using another filesystem. Would be the by far easiest solution.

Best nuclear blast scene ever. A master piece in tragedy. The mother covering the child before both are ash are gruesome.
