His “plans” are probably to stir up shit, mess with elections, sabotage, bribe people in positions of power, stage civil unrest… all the things he was going to do anyway.

The only difference is he’s whining about it in the open instead of doing it behind everyone’s back.

Finland: And now we have a pact with NATO. You wanna cause ‘problems’? We will cause ‘solutions’. Ours are bigger and, as seen in Ukraine, considerably more effective.

Putin is doing this in hopes of intimidating other countries. He and everyone around him knows Russia doesn’t have the resources to start another conflict.

All disputes, including territorial ones, were resolved long ago, in the middle of the 20th century.

Kinda like how the border disputes with Ukraine were solved in the late 20th century. Great example of “don’t start nothing, won’t be nothing”

Best thing Putin has done, in his entire life, is help grow NATO. Pity it had to come from actual war and not just saber-rattling.

Isn’t Finland in NATO now? Putin isn’t dumb enough to actually start shit with NATO. It’s exactly why he started shit with Ukraine that isn’t in NATO yet.

They are, and they also have a defense pact with the US. Direct confrontation would be stupid as that could trigger NATO Article 5, so Putin will likely try to stir shit on a non-military level (social, political, imports, etc).

Putin is probably miffed as the signing of a defence cooperation agreement between Finland and the US looms, which would bring US weapons to Finnish soil on a permanent basis. This is a step towards practical implementation of NATO defense collaboration.

A large group of Russian soldiers in the border area in 1939 are moving down a road, when they hear a voice call from behind a small hill: “One Finnish soldier is better than ten Russians”. The Russian commander quickly orders 10 of his best men over the hill where a gun-battle breaks out and continues for a few minutes, followed by silence.

The voice once again calls out: “One Finn is better than one hundred Russians.” Furious, the Russian commander sends his next best 100 troops over the hill and instantly a huge gun fight commences. After 10 minutes of battle, again silence. The calm Finnish voice calls out again: “One Finn is better than one thousand Russians!”

The enraged Russian commander musters 1000 fighters and sends them to the other side of the hill. Rifle fire, machine guns, grenades, rockets and cannon fire ring out as a terrible battle is fought… Then silence.

Eventually one badly wounded Russian fighter crawls back over the hill and with his dying words tells his commander, “Don’t send any more men… it’s a trap. There are two of them!”

Russia did actually win that war in the end though…

So maybe not the greatest comparison.
