People won’t freak out about climate change until their mother dies of a stroke due to the overwhelming heat … or their roofing tile starts melting and dripping on their porch … or their local water system breaks down due to an extreme heat event … or forest fire smoke completely envelopes their town in an orange haze making it unbreathable outside … or the electrical grid breaks down during a heat wave and there’s no air conditioning and scores of people are dying because of a dramatic wet bulb weather event

You’ve completely left out the cold. We had a record snowfall in my town last winter, in Florida.
There’s also drought and excessive rainfall.
Or, you know, the water or food wars start because our food systems will collapse and we either starve or die by gunfire.
You know, nothing big but still up there with “my roof is melting on my porch”
