I always thought that Bond should have been actually different people and they’re just trained with the Bond identity.
Hell, “programmed agent” is the entire concept of the Bourne series.
That’s always been my take on it. The consistent memories are part of the programming, each new bond adds a little bit to the timeline and they use those as emotional triggers to set the brainwashing.

Isn’t that just a generic name for an English Spy?
I’m pretty sure there’s been more than one other renegade time lord so the implication premise is false.
This does not disprove the premise that The Bachelor exists, though I believe that Agent 007 James Bond is the identity being passed to a successor and not an individual.
