Best alternative for what purpose? Can’t answer unless you tell us that. To make calls and texts? A feature phone. To use android apps? A tablet, I guess.

I heard of something called a pinephone. I know nothing about it but I have it earmarked for further exploration soon.

ties a string to your string, and a can at the other end

Now we’re having a three way!

I know I’m interested in either a dumb flip phone or a smart phone that’ll last a while that doesn’t rely on Android or iOS.

That depends on what you need it to do. You’re not going to get a 1:1 replacement.

    Define how you mean “best”.

I don’t have a best alternative, as my use-case is an Android phone running Lineage.

A senior’s phone. Sometimes also called feature phone. Some of them are pretty good.

Are you looking for a dumb phone? If so the best alternative on the market is probably the Light Phone III. It’s pricey though because its a niche product

There’s one that has a switch that puts you offline, but I can’t remember the name of it.
