The article is right to draw the attention back to immigration. These people want to push pronatlism using the same fear mongering about the collapse of “western” civilization as they do for immigration. The obvious truth has always been that immigration solves the problem of a declining birth rate. This is besides the fact that a declining birth rate is no individual woman’s problem and cannot be solved by trying to make it into one (If it is indeed a real problem and not just a narrative tool to further strip us of our safety nets).

Immigration is not a sustainable solution to demographic collapse though.

It amplifies the demograhic collaps in origin countries like Eastern Europe and rests on the precondition that these countries have to remain poorer than the host countries in order to work.

In a just world there wouldn’t be mass migration from one country to another.

So we have to make conditions for women so good that they can bear as many children as they want (according to polls this would be a slow and sustainable decline of population which is preferable).

Yeah you are right. The end of the article uses japan as an example to show that demographic collapse might not actually be a real problem. It is a very useful narrative tool of the far right though.

ah yes, the continuing fantasy that the declining birthrate among white Americans is some shadowy conspiracy or cultural threat (which it is, if your “culture” is just White Supremacy) rather than no one wanting to raise a kid with some right-wing neanderthals (or having the money to do it anyways).

“If conservatives become convinced that they can not win democratically persuade women to be baby factories consensually, they will not abandon conservatism. They will reject democracy consent.”
