Add that to the fact that there are so many people/bots on Reddit that if you post a comment as little as an hour or two after something is posted, your comment will never been seen and interacted with.
There’s really not much value left in Reddit other than looking up archived answers.
You want to know the reason. This is what I said on reddit and they banned me for 3 days. It’s not even suggesting violence but instead a gathering outside the mansion. Reddit is literally defending Tim Sweeney even.
“Let’s go raid just outside the mansion”
I will never use reddit again.

Oh, I’m on the screenshot!
It shows as not viewable in my region can someone be my eyes?
It’s just the American Chopper socialism argument meme with all the word bubbles saying <deleted>.

Dunno if this works, never tried it on Lemmy before. Expecting it to fail, but who knows?

Haha that’s funny cos it’s true thanks for sharing
need more and more people to leave reddit and join lemmy for good
More and more people are and have been leaving Reddit.
However, Reddit is expanding its reach and popularity in other regions with large populations, like India and developing countries across the globe as well as working to attract other cultures/circles and younger demographics. Strictly from a numbers perspective, it’s really only getting bigger.
And the people who are there now don’t give a single gnat turd about privacy, censorship, APIs, artificial intelligence, bots, ads, crappy design, scams/spam, bad moderation/administration, centralized social media, toxic culture, or any of the other million reasons why people like you and I left. If they did, they wouldn’t be there now.
Having said that, a lot of folks in the Lemmy-esque parts of the Fediverse came here to get away from Reddit’s culture, not just its mods and admins. A mass exodus of Redditors coming here is basically the very last thing they want. And truly, every time there is a big fiasco that leads to lots of people coming here from Reddit, it’s almost always the case that they come, they leave, and most of what remains is the very worst of Reddit that couldn’t get back in because they’re so toxic they were completely banned. I said what I said.
Honestly, apart of me says no, because the oversaturation will cause history to repeat itself.

Protip: before nuking your account get one of those apps that replaces all the text with jibberish, that way not only are you making reddit less attractive to new people but less useful to bots and reddit itself.
Also if you have any post that never got a reply add a comment with “I found the solution super easy”
Works great on technical posts
I see you’re familiar with “Stack Overflow”
‘NVM, fixed it, thanks!’
This is diabolical and I love it
Don’t use redact.dev though if you go this route.
Dan Saltman owns redact and there’s a lot of speculation that all your info is kept by them instead of being fully deleted.
Pretty sure reddit has all the comments archived on the back end anyway. There’s no way they’d let people remove training data for LLMs that they can sell.
Also unless you deleted your account a long time ago everything you wrote has been available publicly and for free on the internet for many years.
Oh no, not my sexy photos in a dress that can be found in my profile! I sure hope no one ever will download them and use for their own horny purposes!
it helps poison googles and openAI AI system.
How is that different from anywhere else
It’s very different
The other day I got a notification that Reddit removed my comment for hate speech. I was scared. Had I said something hateful?
I went to check. It was a comment under a “Homophobic Gaster” meme in the Deltarune community. My comment was:
IT IS I
GASTER DELTARUNE
AND I AM VERY,
VERY
HOMOPHOBIC.
Reddit moderation has no human input whatsoever
About the time that I knew that I was going to be leaving Reddit was when I got a similar notification, for threatening violence against another.
It turns out in the post I was mocking a fictional character. That’s literally it.
Fuck Erebus subreddit got banned for harassment and harm towards others. A completely made up character specifically designed by writers to be one of the most hated individual. No reference or links to anyone in real life.
That subreddit got banned just before i did.
So hating a fictional character is enough to trigger R1
For real? Lol. I was in a few “fuck” subs. They were often as stupid as the OK Buddy ones.
Yeah, and yes it was just stupid random sub dedicated to one of the most hated character of Warhammer 40k universe.
It did got banned oddly just before i started to get warnings and temp bans in rather rapid succession, for pretty much the same behavior iv had been already doing for years.
I assume they launched some new form of detection algorithm in the first half of this year.

Just forget about those platforms who censor ridiculous things. There are also Lemmy instances that does this. Run like the wind from all of that. Because people like that are dangerous. They would also burn books that can upset people. And they would support removing words from the language and replace them with other words.
Yeah, reddit is certainly not what it was 10-15 years ago. hell its not what it was 2 years ago. The community is alot dumber and younger i guess. Still, lemmy doesnt have the range of subreddits, so reddit still has its place unfortunately.
Glad i left reddit for lemmy tbh.
Yeah, Same here honestly
I’m in the process of quitting Reddit. It was weird, some person commented dozens of times and started reposting the same question on the same comment because we disagreed. After I asked the person to leave me alone (I know… I was naive and hopeful), they commented again with the same question multiple times, I told them to fuck off. I got flagged by Reddit for harassment and now I’m shadow banned. It’s basically made the app useless to me. I don’t get why that’s a policy, if they’re banning my account they should just tell me and give me a chance to appeal or just block it. Instead, they operate in this weird gray space of making the experience terrible so you just leave. Sad because I enjoyed a closed community there but the general mods are just the worst. Lemmy will probably be better for my mental health though so silver linings :)
I don’t get why that’s a policy, if they’re banning my account they should just tell me and give me a chance to appeal or just block it
It’s because they hope you won’t notice it happened so there will be less work for them dealing with your complaints or new accounts. Even for people who aren’t fully shadowbanned, when their comments are removed it’s done in a similar way to hide from them that it happened. Reddit is designed to make sure admins and mods are not accountable (to the users) for their actions, and silence anyone who objects.

its because they used AI to ban people, they want to deal with the fallout of a false positive, thats why they gave vague bot message when you site wide banned.
sounded like AI/bots are doing it. i wonder if reddit allows bot so they can ban users critical of certain “agendas” as a bait.
No clue but I finally deleted my account this afternoon. I’m now Reddit free :)
I got perma banned because i said indian truckers. I didnt even bother to apeal it lol reddit was becoming like a warzone. Couldnt say anything with out someone taking offence.
appeals are pretty much useless anyways, even if did try. less than 1% gets unbanned by a admin, and only if they think thier ban was in error. they ignore majority of the appeals, because AI moderation indiscriminately bans people, so they dont have the amount of energy to unban them all, barring people who purposely violating TOS, or have multi accounts with thier bans lifted in the past.
Same, but I’m still encountering this same issue here. Does any instance not allow redactions/deletions? I know many are obsessed with perfect flawless curated feeds, but I kinda miss old internet days where redactions were nonexistent essentially
Honestly wondering if you don’t want deletions why not 4chan? They basically only remove illegal content.
yeah but then the people you’re talking to are 4chan users
Pretty close to getting it!
Then you find out it’s nothing offensive or rule breaking, just a MOD on a power trip. I’m so glad I deleted my account after like 10 years.
Reddit is also getting ban hungry. I got a 7 day ban for criticizing Israelis… zero bans for people saying much worse things about Palestinians
A moderator on r/music deleted a post about the removal of Trump’s name from the Kennedy Center.
Like sure there were plenty of other posts on different subs about the same thing, but I felt like someone was trying to control the narrative there.
I got temp banned so many times for ridiculous shit, and never when it was arguably justified.
Sometimes you’ll get a word salad followed by “edited by redact”
incoming 3rd wave of purges, Musk again wants spez to removed pictures of him form the site. i see another wave coming. musk is pretty much responsible for the massive bans that happened last year.
Is this true or did you see the latest “musk called spez to remove this image” post?
