I love BG3 but the D&D battle system is not for beginners and though BG3 is absolutely fantastic it doesn’t do a great job tutorial wise.

And yes Cyberpunk has all of that:

• Story, Conversations and Decisions
• Quests
• Skill and Leveling system

It’s a proper RPG but with a huge focus on the shooter/action part and yes, in my opinion it lacked on the Quest and interaction part.

But I wouldn’t say that the battle system alone defines a RPG, see Mass effect 2 + 3 and the Witcher.

I have ONE contact who uses Signal. Yes, it’s a shame but at this point I think that I could convert more people to using Linux than to switching to Signal.

Why not try out Western CRPGs?

I gather from what you’re writing, that you’re trying to get into JRPGs.

If you want action-laden fights without random encounters, I suggest the “old” BioWare RPGs:

• Mass Effect Trilogy
• Knights of the old Republic 1 + 2
• Dragon Age Origins (never played the sequels)

They’re old but gold and still one of the best.

And there are still:

• The Witcher 3 and
• Cyberpunk 2077

Can second this for Germany, too.

I had quite a steep degoogling journey. I bought a Pixel 3a half a year ago to try out some custom roms. Calyx was nice but I decided to go with Graphene on my main phone (Pixel 6) because in some way I was and am dependend on some Google Apps and services like chromecasting my kid’s TV shows to the telly.

Installation was fine, it is stable and in theory has all the features I need.

I already had my Nextcloud set up, used that for contacts and my calendar, switched to Proton, used more and more alternative apps like FreeOTP instead of Google authenticator and so on.

But after a long vacation road trip with my electric car it was a little tedious to not having Google maps and Android Car to get me more easily to the next charging station.

And a few little things added up like not having 90hz support. So I wanted to tip my toe in stock Android again to see if I was just annoyed by Android in general or by Graphene.

And “sadly” Stock feels like a new and better phone to me, much smoother more features etc.

For now I’m staying on Stock, but I know that I could switch anytime when Trump will be President again and cuts ties to the European Union and Google is expelled from Ireland in the process.

If you open “all files” in your android app you open the options menu of a folder (three dots right) and push “synchronize”. From now on this folder will be an your cloud und on your phone.

So, wie ich das verstanden habe, ist der Source Code zwar versteckt und unkommentiert, aber frei zur Verfügung.

Die kompilierte RHEL-Version muss dann gekauft werden.

Ich habe aber keinen Ahnung, wie groß der Unterschied zwischen RHEL und CentOS vom Source-Code war/ist und wie die Distro-Forks darauf einfach umsteigen können.

Open Source ist Open Source ist Open Source und durch die die ganzen Lizenzen und Modifikation in einer Distro wird RedHat nicht darum herumkommen, den SourceCode von RHEL herauszugeben. Was hier wegfällt, ist das alte CentOS Repository. Natürlich doof für die Entwickler von Alternativen, aber ich habe da nichts anderes erwartet, nachdem das alte CentOS eingestellt worden ist.

Kommt aber extrem wieder.

Jetzt haben sie alle Probleme und immer mehr Lücken kommen auf, wo ich das “alte Netz” wieder spüren kann.

Ich finde, das Internet bietet immer noch alles wie damals und sogar noch mehr.

Aber:

1. Allerdings muss man dafür genau so viel dafür tun wie damals.
2. Man kann nicht erwarten, dass alle Anderen auch mit dabei sind.

zu 1: Um in den 90ern und 00ern auf gute Inhalte und Communities zu stoßen, musste man suchen, auf Erfahrungen anderer hören, sich vernetzen, Sachen tweaken etc. Wenn man heutzutage im Fediverse ist, dem Algorithmus entsagt (ja, das geht), seine News per RSS kommen lässt, sich spezielle Foren, Chatgroups etc. zusammen sucht, dann hat man ein Erlebnis, dass sehr ähnlich ist.

Wenn man allerdings nur will, dass das “neue Internet” ja genauso toll ist mit dem Algorithmus, der dir alles reinzwängt, was Multi-Milliarden-Konzerne wollen, aber dafür mit allen Annehmlichkeiten, die es so mit sich bringt, tja, dann hat man leider Pech gehabt.

zu 2: Alle sind im Internet, aber “Alle” sind dann auf Instagram, TikTok und co. Wenn man das akzeptiert und sagt: Ich bin dann halt im Fediverse und in diversen Foren, habe dort eigentlich mit mehr Leuten potenziell Kontakt als noch 2005, aber es sind halt nicht alle, dann läuft das.

Ich nehme das, was gut ist (Streaming, Online-Käufe, immer bessere Digitalisierung von Services etc.) und halte mich an den alten Weg (Foren, no-algorithm - nur Abos, RSS, Fediverse) bei vor allem sozialen Geschichten und Nachrichten.

Man hat die Freiheit, es sich zusammen zu bauen, man muss sie nur nutzen.
