Most people don’t have the resources necessary to move up the street, let alone to another country. And both Canada and Austrailia are significantly harder to legally emigrate to than the US. The people who have the resources to do that on a whim are probably the ones who have to worry about Trump’s agenda the least.
I would if that was an easy option but as of yet no one seems to be taking in US “refugees” nor do they have much sympathy for nor want them.
I’m past my prime with cancer. They just view me as a foreign drain on their system. I don’t pass the basic immigration demands because I am poor and don’t bring anything to the table economically.
I guess everyone with money and ability to move can find comfort in leaving folks like me behind to die.
Yeah, the whole no public charges thing I think all countries have will lead to a lot of people with disabilities dying when Medicaid is cut off, if not a repeat of Aktion T4 in the USA. I don’t see a good future for anyone disabled in the USA. The situation is grim, at best.
Canadian here. I hope you have tens of thousands of dollars and several years to burn, because it’s very expensive and time-consuming. Also, have fun with one of the worst housing crises in the world. Some visual data can be found here.
Just based on the house price to rent ratio (the ratio of house prices to the annual cost of rent), NYC is about 38. Here is an infographic of the house price to rent ratio of various Canadian cities:
As you can see, the cost of housing in NYC is comparable to Toronto and Victoria. Our mortgages don’t have fixed rates though, so every 5 years your mortgage rate goes up (theoretically it could go down, but it generally doesn’t). It makes buying a house a lot more risky even if you can afford it.
Go to Canada or Australia before you pull that switch

You think Canada will be safe when shit hits the fan in the US? Because I don’t.
