I think a certain set of people just don’t have the bandwidth to deal with the complexity of the modern world so just accept the simplest loudest solution. Its not neccesarily lack of empathy so much as a perception of protecting their tribe.

That’s not fair to humanity. This is a Western problem, and America is the West on crack (fent?). People make mistakes everywhere, but in America/much of the West even the concept of objective rights and wrongs are debatable, which allows for even more amoral excesses. This is why their discourse revolves around whether things are “constitutional” or “legal”, because objective morality is not in their psyche, so saying right and wrong doesn’t come naturally to them.

I mean, yes, monotheists like Moses and Jesus also spoke about objective truths, rights and wrongs (“thou shalt not kill” etc etc). Of course it sounds like nonsense to you, lol, if it didn’t we wouldn’t be where we are!

The other day he assured me that I molest children because it’s just in my nature. I don’t ever recall diddling a kid, but he must be right because who am I to argue against nature.

Dude, you’re everywhere making low-effort bad takes about everything. I get that you like to start arguments, but I really wish you’d put more effort and skill into it. Then at least arguing with you would be interesting.

I’ve been yapping about it for a while now, maybe now people will listen. It’s too late to fix American society IMO but maybe they could emigrate and start new lives elsewhere without being dangerous pariahs. 🤷

Two side by side photos. On the left a famous historical photo of a Ukrainian Jew being executed by Nazi Einsatzgruppen, on the left is the 2026 murder of Alex Pretti by Donald Trump’s ICE agents. The two images look strikingly similar, down to the poses and the clear, deliberate, premeditated execution of an unarmed prisoner

27% of USians think this is justified. Let that sink in. You don’t need to be able to read or write to watch the videos.

27% of USians are subhuman predators.

First, the preface: I am in no way making any excuses for these subhuman shitstains. They deserve the same level of treatment they’re gleefully handing out.

The question: is that blackshirt bottom right trying to get the muzzle away from Mr Pretti’s head as it appears in the image? (Edit: I’ve not seen all the footage)

No. The murderer is standing behind him to the right and there is more distance between them than there seems from this still angle. The murderer had already started firing, seemingly having made up his mind moments before that he was going to execute Pretti. The other agents are simply jumping backward and stumbling over the sound of gunshots.

There is different types of intelligence people use. Those who are technically intelligent, but not…let’s say emotionally intelligent are why we see this happen.

Sure IQ has been misused a lot but IQ can still be used to estimate the demographic distribution of a population on one axis. Since it’s sort of normally distributed. Like BMI it should not be applied to individuals. It just shows how many people of a population deviate from the mean. And yes it’s not IQ alone, but still telling that those numbers are close.

Yeah. This has been incredibly eye opening. I am disgusted by the actions of the people in power here.

These are the types of people I was raised to believe no longer exist after the second world war.

What they should do is organize, rebuild community support for local issues and better representation, volunteer and create more connections so that the highest levels of federal government have less power and so that the minority doesn’t have all the power simply by being armed, nationalististic and dumb, such as the grassroots campaigns that have helped openly progressive and socialist local leaders take power recently.

What they will likely do is keep working 6 days a week to afford basic necessities, and feel so overwhelmed and stressed by the world outside of their immediate needs for survival that they only get their political information from memes on facebook when they browse social media for 45 minutes on a Sunday night after putting the kids to bed, and as a result will vote in the next person who says “I’m good at politic, please elect me.”

What’s the source on the quote? As far as I’m aware PIAAC doesn’t make any statements about difficulty like that, since it doesn’t particularly track with the description of Level 1 reading comprehension.

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: you could poll a thousand random Americans and get about 25% in favor of eating light bulbs and severing diplomatic relations with the magical land of Oz.

It may or may not always be the same group of people across the same demographics, but about one in four Americans have got some real serious problems.
